| MY STORY by: Lis Weiler |
Is your teen out of control? Mine was. My son's teen years have been terrible. He was cutting school, lying, running away, stealing, drinking and doing drugs.
I was afraid for my son's life and my sanity. His dad and I tried many different options; therapy, drug treatment programs, living with dad in a new neighborhood and going to a different school, everything we could think of. Nothing worked. He was still out of control and we knew we had to do something else.
We contacted Teen Help and they were wonderful. My son is now in a great school in Utah getting the help he needs. It's been 6 months and we can see the changes he has made.
I can now sleep at night without worrying about the police bringing him home. (Or even worse getting that horrible call to come identify the body) He is drug and alcohol free and is learning to take responsibility for the bad choices he made in his life. I feel such a sense of thankfulness and relief that we found this program.
This program also offers parents much needed support. I'm working on issues of respect and love and confidence that are also helping me in different areas of my life.
I highly recommend this program. Stop the downward spiral of your teen. There is hope. There is help!
March, 2008
I just wanted to update my story. My son graduated from Cross Creek two years ago - in Dec. 2005.
He is now a high school graduate! He will be graduating a community college this semester and will be starting a four-year school for his BA this fall!. He has been working at a great job for more than two years!!!! He received a great promotion at work! He is living on his own, and is self-supporting. He attends NA regularly and even sponsors some people!
I was just at a meeting with him when he received his three year NA "clean and sober" anniversary cake!!!! He is responsible and accountable for the choices he makes. He has been making some wonderful choices for himself. He is proud of himself! I am proud of him! We have a wonderful relationship!!!!
All these wonderful accomplishments would not have been possible without the benefit of the year and a half he spent in Cross Creek!!!! My son has even thanked me and his father for saving his life and sending him away!!!!
I hope you choose to make the decision to send your child to this program!!!! It was the best decision I ever made!!!!
Give your child and yourself the present of a new and happy life!
love and hugs. Lis.
